StellarPress Publishing

An AI cover automation system for a publisher with a catalog moving faster than its design workflow.

Open book glowing in a dark cosmic studio environment.

StellarPress Publishing operates in the high-pressure world of digital book launches, where a cover can decide whether a reader clicks, scrolls past, or remembers a title at all. Their editorial team had taste, market knowledge, and a growing catalog, but every new release created the same production drag: briefs, revisions, genre research, art direction, and late-stage performance doubts.

The team came to ZORQ because they did not simply need cheaper covers. They needed a system that could understand brand rules, genre signals, audience behavior, and sales feedback, then turn that intelligence into cover directions fast enough to support an expanding publishing slate.

The project became less about one design deliverable and more about a repeatable creative engine: a way to generate, evaluate, refine, and deploy visual options without losing the human editorial taste that made the imprint valuable.

Before ZORQ, each cover cycle moved through a slow manual chain. Designers waited for genre references, editors waited for mockups, marketing waited for testable variants, and every delay pushed launch decisions closer to the deadline. StellarPress had tried tighter briefs and smaller design batches, but the process still depended on human production time for work that was increasingly repetitive.

StellarPress needed a scalable cover system that could reduce cost and cycle time while preserving market fit, brand control, and editorial quality.

Our approach.

A methodical creative system shaped around the exact operational friction.

Phase 01 - Discovery & Genre Signal Mapping

ZORQ mapped the imprint's catalog, visual patterns, category expectations, and sales history. We translated the strongest performing covers into genre signals, mood attributes, color logic, typography rules, and audience cues the automation system could reuse.

Phase 02 - Cover System Architecture

We designed AutoCover AI as a controlled generation pipeline rather than an open-ended image tool. The system ingested brand guidelines, title metadata, genre data, and campaign goals, then produced variant sets with consistent composition rules and scoring criteria.

Phase 03 - Testing & Editorial Refinement

The strongest variants were pushed into lightweight audience tests, including automated reader panels and social polling. Engagement heatmaps and qualitative reactions helped the system refine contrast, hierarchy, and emotional clarity before final review.

Phase 04 - Autonomous Production Loop

Once the winning logic was validated, ZORQ connected the workflow to repeatable production rules. StellarPress could now generate launch-ready covers for new titles while keeping editors in the final approval seat.

Results.

The numbers mattered because they changed the way the business could move.

38% Average sales lift
$42 Cost per cover
4h Final cycle time
300+ Covers generated
500+ Variants per title

The new system changed cover design from a bottleneck into an advantage. StellarPress could test more ideas, make sharper launch decisions, and reserve human creative attention for titles that needed deeper editorial nuance.

ZORQ gave us a system that thinks like a publishing team. We still make the final call, but now the best options arrive in hours instead of weeks.
